Mastering
Audio mastering is the final step in the music production process, where a mixed audio track is polished and prepared for distribution. It involves adjusting levels, equalization, compression, and other processes to ensure the track sounds balanced and cohesive across various playback systems. The goal of mastering is to enhance the overall sound quality, maintain sonic consistency, and make the music ready for formats like streaming, CDs, or vinyl. Stereo Mastering - Stem Mastering
Thou stereo (file) mastering is completely fine and it's commonly used, stem mastering on the other hand brings us more freedom for detailed control over individual elements within the mix, providing flexibility and precision. Stem mastering uses submixes of the tracks, known as "stems," which are groups mixdowns of similar audio elements (e.g., vocals, drums, guitars). The decision whether you need stereo or stem mastering is always on the artist side, but to achieve the best possible result, it is always good practice to collaborate on that decision together with our mastering engineer.
The process
Once you feel confident that your mix is truly ready, it’s a good time to send it off to a mastering engineer! After we receive your file, we will perform analysis of the track and if everything is fine, we will proceed with mastering as planned. If we do find some things in the mix, that needs to be addressed, we will contact you and collaborate with you on a solution. After mastering is done, artist will have 2 dedicated review options, where we can collaborate on specific mastering changes. When the artist is pleased with the final version, we will deliver it in the highest possible quality format.
